We have come together to celebrate a life--the life of one who loved the
Lord and loved the Bible. The book of Revelation was Frank's favorite. I
want to share with you one scene in the book of Revelation that was one of
his favorites. You who know him well will understand why.
It is important to have just a little background here. Frank was especially
sensitive to injustice, to the dangers that face us and threaten to snuff
the flame of freedom. This flag meant something to Frank. He was deeply
concerned that people be fully aware of the issues, to know the forces that
are ready to move against our freedoms. He believed (and many others with
him believe, myself included) that the greatest confrontation between right
and wrong in the history of the world is just ahead.
In the book of Revelation, Frank saw clearly forces of evil gathering all
the governments and armies of earth to fight against the Truth of God.
(They fail to realize that the outcome has already been decided. The
victory was won when Jesus died on the cross for sin and rose from the
dead.) Judgment now falls on those who presume to fight against God.
Let's look at the part that sparked Frank's interest. In this vision the
Christ on horseback enters the scene:
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him
was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make
war.
His eyes were as a flame of fire and on his head were many crowns; and he
had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed
with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is call The Word of God. And
the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in
fine linen, white and clean.
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS,
AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19: 11-14, 16.
Here is Christ on the white horse. We have seen Christ on the cross,
seemingly defeated; now we see Christ as the Conquering Christ, the
Victorious Christ, whose death is proved to be, not defeat, but victory. He
is called Faithful and True: He is genuine through and through. He is for
real! next page
